THE FILE IN THE BOY’S BACKPACK

The wealthy customers laughed when the crystal shelf shattered.

They saw a poor boy on the marble floor.

They saw broken plates around him.

They saw coins spilling from an old black backpack.

To them, he was just a careless child who had walked into a room too expensive for him.

The showroom manager humiliated him in front of everyone and demanded to know how he would pay.

The boy whispered that the coins were all he had.
