Cecilia did not ask Claire to explain slowly.
Good lawyers understood that panic wasted oxygen, and oxygen mattered on airplanes.
"I am freezing all trustee-side transfers pending verification," Cecilia said. "I will notify Meridian Bank, Northbridge, and the family office. Do not sign anything. Do not surrender devices. Preserve every witness in the cabin."
Ryan stared at Claire as if she had opened a door in the sky.
"You cannot freeze my company," he said.
Cecilia answered before Claire could. "Mr. Ellison, your company has been operating under collateral owned by your wife's trust since the Westlake default. Your voting authority is conditional. Your personal confidence is not."
The sentence landed harder than turbulence.
Two board members exchanged looks. They had known pieces. They had not known the whole map.
