Calder's next document was a copy of Adrian's proposed trustee vote.
It had been scheduled for that evening, after the dinner, when the donors were warm with wine and the family could present succession as something already blessed by applause.
The vote would have removed Eleanor from daily oversight. It would have transferred foundation management to a new entity chaired by Adrian, with Vanessa as cultural director and signatory over charitable disbursements.
Eleanor had read every page the week before and recognized ambition wearing charity's coat.

Vanessa sat down slowly.
